Emergency Prayer Needed for Trump and Country – 5 Key Requests

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer for Trump and Country

There are so many important things that Christians should be praying about regarding President Trump and the country. Here are 5 issues that are critical that we need to pray about immediately.

  1. Pray that God would give wisdom to Jeff Sessions as to whether there should be a Special Counsel or not to look into issues involving the FBI, DOJ, the Clinton Foundation, Uranium one, abuses of the FICA court, and many other crimes committed by Hillary Clinton and all those who tried to stop Donald Trump from being elected President.
  2. Pray that God would do His will with the Mueller investigations, and if there was no collusion to just put a stop to the investigations.
  3. Pray that the Sanctuary City battle would soon end in victory according to what is right and constitutional, and that ICE police would be safe and allowed to do their job without interference.
  4. Pray…

How to Carry Burdens in Prayer

When the Holy Spirit gives you a burden He also gives you the responsibility to hold it and carry it along.  For this reason, you must listen closely to the voice of God and give attention to those peculiar feelings of compassion He gives you for certain individuals.  Then when you feel a special mercy, tenderness, or pity for a person, give heed to this feeling—go immediately to prayer.

But give attention only to those unselfish concerns.  Pay no heed to those interests by which you will benefit from.  In this regard, be careful in your praying, as you pray for certain members of the opposite sex that you are attracted to.  Guard your heart, as your prayers may be nothing more than Satan’s trap to get you more emotionally attached, which in the end may have very destructive consequences. Overall, I think, to give yourself consistently and exclusively to praying for a girlfriend or boyfriend is a waste of time and will sap all of your energy, which you could be using to pray for those whom God is really calling you to.

Give special attention to those burdens that seem more urgent.  And pray with a holy determination to see God’s answer.  If you feel that you don’t have the strength in yourself to pray as God would want you to, add fasting to your prayers; also add solitude.  Then also, if you lose your desire to sleep, determine to pray into the night, for it is God calling you to pray as Jesus did—perhaps all night long.

And don’t worry about your health—that you are depriving yourself of needs.  If God is calling you to fast He will certainly sustain you and give you all the strength you need to do what He has called you to do.

Do you remember the time, recorded for us in the book of John, when the disciples came to Jesus and urged Him to eat? (Apparently, He had been so busy serving people that He hadn’t eaten for a long time.) What did He say to His disciples?  “He said to them, ‘I have food to eat of which you do not know.’”  Then He explained Himself: “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work” (Jn. 4:31-34).  I really like this passage because it tells us that when we are faithful to do His work He will take care of our needs; He will even sustain us physically, so we will not even feel hungry!

Moreover, if you are faithful in pouring out God’s love to others as you obediently carry the burdens God gives you, you can be sure that He will sustain you by His love.  In fact, the Holy Spirit will pour out into your heart all the love you need: in the midst of pain and suffering for the burdens you bear, His love will flood over you so that you are not overwhelmed, burdened down and disappointed.  On the contrary, His love will give you hope—hope to be able to persevere in prayer for others, also hope for a lasting reward.  For Jesus has promised us, “I come quickly, and My reward is with Me to give every one according to his work” (Rev. 22:12).

Trump Fine Tunes His Cabinet

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer for Trump and Country

President Trump will continue to fine tunes his leader positions for the good of the country.

*Please pray for President Trump and for all those undergoing changes.

State Department:  Rex Tillerson out, Mike Pompeo in.

CIA:  Mike Pompeo out, Gina Haspel in.

*Pray that the media and our country would let Trump be Trump.

*Pray that President Trump will not give in to pressure, that he would run the country as he sees best.

*Pray that those undergoing change would be confirmed without a problem. Some in Congress see problems with  both Pompeo and with Haspel, but most think they are good choices.

*Also pray over the McCabe firing, that the entire truth would be revealed and justice will prevail.

Did God Withhold Good Things From Job Who Was Righteous? No.

I love Psalm 84:11. It says, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

So, this says to me that if I keep myself from sin and basically be a good person, God will bless me with good things and will not take those things away from me. Right?

However, when I think of those precious believers on the mission field who suffer so much, and when I think of the bible character Job, I start to doubt. The bible says that Job “was blameless, upright, fearing God, and turning away from evil” (Job 1:1). Yet God took all his wealth and possessions away from him and also his health. So it seems that God withheld all the “good” that He had previously given him.

Well, I know that the bible is true, so I thought that I must be missing something. Here is what I came up with, in three points.

1. Study of Psalm 84:11. For this we will look at the Albert Barns commentary and the Wycliffe commentary.

Barnes

[For the LORD God is a sun] The sun gives light, warmth, beauty, to the creation; so God is the source of light, joy, happiness, to the soul. Compare Isa 60:19; Rev 21:23; 22:5.

[And shield] See Ps 84:9.

[The LORD will give grace and glory] Grace, or favor, here; glory, or honor, in the world to come. He will bestow all needful favor on his people in this life; he will admit them to glory in the world to come. Grace and glory are connected. The bestowment of the one will be followed by the other. Rom 8:29-30. He that partakes of the grace of God on earth will partake of glory in heaven. Grace comes before glory; glory always follows where grace is given.

[No good thing will he withhold …] Nothing really good; nothing that man really needs; nothing pertaining to this life, nothing necessary to prepare for the life to come. Compare 1 Tim 4:8; Phil 4:19.

Wycliffe

God, like the chief heavenly body in the physical realm, is the sole source of all our spiritual power, energy, and light. He is our protection, and He bestows needed grace in this life and glory in the life to come.

My comments. Just as the sun is a source of goodness to us, God is the source of all good things to man. And God is also our shield—our protector.

God will give us grace (favor) and glory (honor in the next world). Grace and glory are connected, and one follows the other. He who gets favor in this life also gets God’s glory in the life to come.

“No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (who are true believers). That is, God will not withhold anything from us that we need in this life that we should have that will prepare us for the next life. All that we need in order to prepare us for a heaven, He will give to us—and it will be good—good for us, or good for our godliness and spiritual growth.

So I think “good thing” in this verse may be misleading. I don’t think it means merely things that make us happy in this life. The good things must also benefit the next life. Therefore, if suffering in this life will help to benefit me in the next life then suffering will be a good thing.

2. Job’s lack of understanding. Job was a very good and righteous man, however, he did not have a clear understanding of God and what God was doing. He had always believed that if a person was righteous, God would keep him from suffering and all evil in this life. Job should not have questioned God’s goodness, justice and wisdom. This was Job’s sin. Thus Job should have known that God was good and that all the suffering He brought on him (through Satan) would work together ultimately for good (Job’s repentance, Job 42:3-6).

3. Verses for suffering Christians.

Romans 8:28. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

I remember quoting this verse on the first day I got to Marine boot camp as I was standing at attention on the white footprints. What had I got myself into??

Romans 5:3-4. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

James 1:2-4. My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

These two references above are unbelievable! We are to glory in and be joyful in the trials we are going through!  Who does that? Job didn’t, because he didn’t understand. But I should because I have these verses.

2 Corinthians 12:9. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

This verse is especially helpful to me. Just as Paul boasted in his infirmities, so can I. In fact, I have lately been going through a whole string of health problems, and because of it, I find that I have more spiritual power in me to pray and resist sin. I don’t like being sick, but if it make me strong in Christ, I welcome the sickness.

Pray for Trump’s Safety as He Meets with the North Korean Dictator

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer for Trump and Country

There is a lot on the Presidents table. He needs our constant prayers—for safety, strength, and endurance. Here are a few of the more important issues on his agenda.

  1. To keep our country safe from those who want to shoot up our schools and kill our kids.
  2. To bring back steel and aluminum factories and jobs into our country, as he pursues fair trade practices.
  3. To keep our boarders safe. To work with the AG, to be rid of illegals and gangs and to disband all sanctuary cities and states.
  4. The President is getting ready to meet with the North Korean dictator. Pray for his safety and pray that he will be able to discern what Rocket Man is up to.
  5. Continue to pray that leaders will root out all sources of correction in our government, and pray that all criminals will soon be prosecuted.

Keep On In Prayer Even When Your Brain Isn’t Working Well

This is a comic strip from the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, 3/5/2018.

I laughed when I read this comic strip this morning. I could relate. I haven’t been feeling too good lately, and so my brain isn’t working too well either. The worst thing is that when I pray nothing is very specific. All I can think to say is “God help me.” In times when we are not feeling well we have to struggle harder at prayer. And if we are committed to the struggle, God will help us to get our thoughts out to Him—to be specific in our prayers.

I’ve been reading Job lately. Even though he was always in pain and sorrow, he managed to express very deep, specific thoughts.

Looking Back at Billy Graham’s Life from His Autobiography – Part 6

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer for Trump and Country

To commemorate Billy Graham’s life I am re-posting these articles I wrote back in 2013, having to do with his prayer life. Enjoy.

50 Prayer Experiences: from Billy Graham’s Autobiography, Just As I Am – Part 6

Posted on February 25, 2013 by Stephen Nielsen

In this sixth part we will review Billy Graham’s prayers with four key American presidents—Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and Reagan. We will also see how Billy’s preaching came to Russia—a very exciting time in history!

Part 6
1961 – 1984

  1. Though Billy Graham didn’t agree with all of his policies, he made a great friend of LBJ. He saw a side of him that most people didn’t see; he had a deep, sincere spiritual dimension. Billy said he was beside him many times as he knelt by his bedside in his pajamas. (p. 404)
  2. In 1970 an amazing thing happened. Billy recounted that when he and…
