Spring Thaw Brings the Ducks

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

It isn’t technically Spring yet, but this day was very Spring-like.

This is the only place on this small lake where there is water for the ducks to play. There is an underwater current here that melts the ice and draws the ducks.

Most of the walking path is dry and free of snow and ice. Soon all the snow will melt.

Jesus and the Pharisees: from Matthew 15:1-6

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

This is our seventh study on this topic. Please click HERE for an intro to this study.

Matthew 15:1-6

Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”

3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’  5 But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, ‘Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is a gift devoted to God,’ 6 he is not to ‘honor his father’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

Observations

The tradition of washing…

Jesus and the Pharisees: from Matthew 12:38-41

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

This is our sixth study on this topic. Please click HERE for an intro to this study.

Matthew 12:38-41

38 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you.”

39 He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here.

Observations

In this text we see that the Pharisees wanted to see…

Moving Toward A Different America: More Transgenderism, Less Christianity

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

I was listening to a conversation between Newt Gingrich and Tucker Carlson today, and the question came up as to why Biden and the Democrats want to hurt America, because everything the Dems want will hurt this country in measurable ways. For instance, why are they letting in illegals without any health checks? Many of them would or have tested positive for covid-19; we know that. Newt Gingrich said that they want a different America, that they despise America the way it is. They want an America with more transgenderism and with less Christianity. They want a socialist America, not a capitalistic America.

It sounds to me that they want to spend lots of money on whatever they want, like more marijuana, etc. And it sure seems like America (and the World) is sinking into what it once was before the flood, when “every intent of the…

Jesus and the Pharisees: from Matthew 12:13-14; 22-26

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

This is our fifth study on this topic. Please click HERE for an intro to this study.

Matthew 12:13-14; 22-25

13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. 14 But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

22 Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see. 23 All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”

24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebub, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”

25 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself…

Jesus and the Pharisees—and Trump: Study #3

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

This is our third study on this topic. Please click HERE for an into to this study.
We will begin our study for this post in Matthew 9:32-34

Matt 9:32-34

As they were going out, “a mute, demon-possessed man was brought to Him. 33 And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”

34 But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.”

Observations

What happened to the man was clear and undeniable. Jesus drove a demon out of the man and he was healed. He could speak. And the crowd was amazed at what happened.

But what was puzzling is the response by the “righteous” Pharisees. They said that the reason he was able to cast out demons was because he called…

February Sunshine

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

We just had a few inches of snow, but a few days ago when I touch these pictures the sun was shining bright.

Here the path is quite dry and walkable, but going through the trees in the shade it is icy and slippery.

A lot of people were out enjoying the good weather and the sunshine.

I took this outside my west window.

Jesus and the Pharisees: Study #2

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

This is our second study on this topic. Please click HERE for an into to this study.
We will begin our study for this post in Matthew 9:10-13.

Matthew 9:10-13

10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and “sinners” came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?”

12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Observations

The Pharisees apparently thought that a righteous person should not mingle with or be seen with sinners. That would ruin a person’s reputation. A righteous person, to them, should only be seen with the upper…

Jesus and the Pharisees : Study #1

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

To begin our study, I think we should say a little bit about who the Pharisees are. An article I found by Jack Zavada, I think is good. I will give you just the first part of it.

Who Were the Pharisees in the Bible?

The Pharisees in the Bible were members of a religious group or party that frequently clashed with Jesus Christ over his interpretation of the Law.

The Pharisees formed the largest and most influential religious-political party in New Testament times. They are consistently depicted in the Gospels as antagonists or opponents of Jesus Christ and the early Christians.

The name “Pharisee” means “separated one.” The Pharisees separated themselves from society to study and teach the law, but they also separated themselves from the common people because they considered them religiously unclean.

Besides this article—and there is a lot more to it if you care to…

Covid-19 Vaccinations are Setting Us Up for a Future World Dictator

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStephen Nielsen

It seems to me that the vaccinations are setting us up—preparing us—to be controlled by a future world dictator. Never before has the world been in a position where we are saying we need to be controlled.  And the governments of the world are telling us that it is for our own good. And they are using fear to control us and to convince us to be vaccinated—or die!

The bible tells us that there will come a world leader who will control us by giving us a mark on our right hand or our forehead, and we won’t be able to buy or sell anything without this mark. He is the Antichrist and is controlled by Satan.

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy…
